The forest where I spent my childhood is a deep, shadowy pine forest. It's the same forest where my brother's glasses were lost, snatched by a stray tree branch. On another occasion, our cat disappeared and my father discovered him tangled in thorny brambles in the forest's darkness. It's the kind of place that keeps what it takes. Yet, amidst its mysterious ways, it always felt like a sanctuary to me.
